Lode is
Alison Blunt with Violin, Voice, Toys and Objects

David Leahy with Double Bass, Voice, Toys, Objects and Loops
Lode comprises of two well known and internationally respected artists on the free and experimental jazz communities, Alison and David have teamed up to create music with references that might graphically resemble Medusa’s hair-do. As with the monster with her serpent hair, Lode allow their wide-ranging influences free rein to serve them, their purpose being to bring attention to the moment, an improvised flow of magic.
Starting with a melody (head) composed that day, the two musicians take the audience on a journey, where the sound of water swirling in a pan mingles with the strains of a lost fiddle tune, the double bass has it’s driving riff drowned out by the colliding tunes of miniature music boxes, the siren outside seeps into the multitude of layers captured, looped and played back, a string orchestra strides onto the stage to accompany a song of love found and lost... That was the last performance.
